The Menu
A five-movement progression, drawn from the Head Critic's standing arrangements with Perth's most considered receptacles. Pricing in Scraps.
A Single Twistie
Recovered intact from the wind-shadow of the Subiaco Oval west gate. Cheese-dust mostly preserved. Crunch retained.
The Salt Sachet, Unopened
A meditation on possibility. Served on its packet, beside a small spoon for ceremonial purposes only.
Bread Crust, Wholemeal
Sliced fine, with the natural patina that only the underside of a Coles paper bag can confer.
Aged Hot Chip, Cottesloe Coast
Sun-rested four to seven hours. Notes of malt vinegar, fine salt, and a faint coastal melancholy.
Half Sausage Roll, Magpie-Worked
A collaborative dish. Our friends the corvids have already done the structural work; we merely complete it.
Lamington Corner, Slightly Domed
The chocolate has reached its second life. The coconut has accepted it. A profoundly Australian moment.
Three-Day Croissant, Mary Street
Desiccated to the firmness of architecture. Lamination intact. Butter, somehow, still present.
The Late-Hour Meat Pie, Mrs Mac's
Recovered Northbridge, between 3:00 and 4:00am. The pastry carries the soft melancholy of an evening that perhaps went on too long.
Burger King Crown, Sesame
Structural integrity preserved. The crown remains, even when the kingdom has long since departed.
Half-Kebab, Hay Street Mall
Garlic sauce intact, chilli forward. Foil still holding form. Provenance: corporate lunch hour, second sitting.
A Considered Chiko Roll
Two bites taken, eighteen possible. A study in unfinished business.
Cheese Stick, Bega, Half-Length
Plastic peeled back to the precise midway point. A masterclass in the unfinished gesture.
The Forgotten Cheezel
Single, orange, perfect. Found on a Leederville footpath at first light.
Half a Krispy Kreme, Original Glazed
Fingerprint provenance retained. Glaze still resilient. Served on the receipt of its original purchaser.
Magnum Stick, Liberated
The chocolate has gone, but the splinter of wood remembers everything. Best taken in silence.
A Single Boost Juice Cup, Drained
Mango passionfruit residue. Two sips remain at the bottom, should the diner be brave.
A Note On Dietary Requirements
The Bistro accommodates the strictly insectivorous, the omnivorous-curious, and the post-flexitarian alike. Please advise upon reservation. We do not serve hatchlings; they are welcome to forage in the children's bin at the rear.
